Canada falling behind green technology

May 16, 2012 – The National Round Table on the Environment and the
Economy says that Canada is falling behind on business and emission
standards to reduce the impact of climate change.

According to the report, Canada has no standards or tools to identify environmental impact, which has resulted in a non-consistent end product from individual companies. As well, the report says that decisions need to be made to deal with the ancient and emission-heavy infrastructure that is utilized in this country.

Lastly, the consensus is that Canada is falling behind its goals to cut emissions down to 17 percent below 2005 levels by the year 2020. Instead, they focused on reaching the 2050 targets – 65 percent below 2005 levels.

It's possible, said the advisory group's president David McLaughlin,
but the longer it takes, the harder it would be.
