April 13, 2016 - Ms. Andrea Kent, President of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA), released the following statement after the announcement of the Government of Quebec’s Politique énergétique du Québec 2030:

“The CRFA applauds the Government of Quebec’s leadership and ambition as part of its Politique énergétique du Québec 2030.

The CRFA is particularly pleased to welcome a policy environment conducive to the expansion of proven green technologies like those in our biofuels sector.

The Government of Quebec has committed to increase the percentage of energy used from renewable sources in Quebec from 47 per cent to over 60 per cent in 2030.

Specific targets set by this policy will also reduce Quebec’s use of petroleum products by 40 per cent and increase the production of bioenergy by 50 per cent.

The CRFA looks forward to working with its members and the Government of Quebec to help deliver a stronger domestic bioenergy sector, and continued innovations in biofuels to help Quebec maintain its position at the forefront of today’s green economy.”
