Rentech ready to commission Atikokan pellet plant

August 13, 2014, Atikokan, Ont. – Rentech is in position to begin the commissioning phase of its Atikokan wood pellet production plant.

August 13, 2014, Atikokan, Ont. – Rentech is in position to
begin the commissioning phase of its Atikokan wood pellet production plant.

 

According to an article in the Atikokan Progress, Site
Manager Bill Carson has stated that the plant will be commissioned for
production within the month. Carson also stated that while the final pieces of the
plant construction are still being put in place, a successful test run has
already been completed.

 

The plant will provide 45,000 tonnes of pellets for the OPG
Atikokan power plant each year, and also has a supply contract with Drax in the
U.K. Wood pellets supplied to Drax will be shipped from Quebec City after
arriving by rail.

 

Rentech’s Atikokan pellet plant is expected to produce
100,000-125,000 tonnes of pellets per year at full capacity.
