South Korea revises renewable energy credit policy, excludes SRF biomass

Effective 2020, the South Korean policy for renewable energy credits (RECs) will exclude biomass solid recovered fuel (SRF) made from waste wood, Argus reports.
According to Argus, this exclusion means South Korea’s government is tightening specifications for REC-accredited biomass. The policy will also discourage firing bio-SRF. However, power generation-fired or co-fired wood pellets still qualify for RECs.
